Job summary

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as directed by the registered nurse in meeting the multidisciplinary plan of care established for each patient.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and supports ongoing continuum of care.
• Supports problem solving and troubleshooting in care and equipment maintenance and ensures supplies are available on the unit.
• Performs point of care testing with patients (glucose, urine pregnancy) when needed.
• Maintains patient safety watch as assigned per policy and procedures.
• Completes clerical tasks and verifies demographics and patient check-in procedures.
• Communicates waiting times and related changes to patients.
• Reads/ interprets insurance responses and assigns primary/secondary/tertiary coverage per encounter.
• Ensures disclosure and privacy information is provided and collects required signatures.
• Completes regulatory forms with patients and adheres to HIPAA and privacy guidelines.
• Maintains productivity and quality performance while upholding patient confidentiality.

Will provide a wide range of duties including direct patient care responsibilities as well as front line office activities in an effective and efficient manner for the department. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.

Job Duties

• Provides patient care as directed by the registered nurse in meeting the multidisciplinary plan of care established for each patient.
• Provides or assists patients with activities of daily living and fulfills designated and delegated responsibilities for ongoing continuum of care.
• Assists in problem solving and troubleshooting in the care and maintenance of equipment and assists in ensuring adequate supplies are available on the unit.
• Provides Point of care testing with patients including glucose and urine pregnancy testing when needed.
• Provides one-to-one patient safety watch as assigned following established policy and procedures.
• Completes clerical responsibilities for task completion based on ability and training.
• Responsible for checking patients in for appointments and accurately verifying demographics.
• Assures all check-in procedures are completed, and monitors patient waiting times, communicating changes to the patient as necessary.
• Reads and interprets insurance responses.
• Understands general guidelines and insurance rank requirement to properly assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter.
• Ensures patient receives necessary disclosure and privacy information, obtains necessary legal and financial signatures.
• Communicates the purpose of and completes all necessary regulatory forms with patient.
• Abides by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality and patient rights.
• Maintain productivity and quality performance expectations.
• Must maintain high regard for confidentiality.

Schedule

Minimum of 20 hours per week

Part-time, working 2-3 days per week during standard business hours (Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM).
