Job summary

George Washington University is seeking an Appliance Technician to support the Facilities, Buildings & Grounds team. You will install and troubleshoot washers, dryers, ranges, refrigerators, and other large appliances for University customers.

Responsibilities include connecting water and gas lines, informing customers on operation, repairing components, and dismantling/reassembling appliances to diagnose issues. Ongoing duties may involve records, estimates, and inventory control.

Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study.
  • Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Connect water and gas lines to appliances and check for leaks after installation.
  • Inform customers on how to operate the appliances properly.
  • Repair and replace defective components found in appliances.
  • Dismantle and reassemble appliances to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Perform record keeping, bill preparation, repair estimates, and inventory control.

I. JOB OVERVIEW

Facilities, Buildings & Grounds (FBG) is currently seeking an Appliance Technician to help support the Universities mission in education. FBG is a part of GW's Facilities, Planning and Construction Management Division, which maintains GW's property and grounds on all three campuses. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Facilities Operations Services, the Appliance Technician typically performs installations and troubleshooting for washers, dryers, ranges, refrigerators, and other large appliances for University customers.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Connecting water and gas lines to appliances and checking for leaks after appliance installation
  • Informing customers on how to operate the appliances properly
  • Repairing and replacing any defective components found in appliances
  • Dismantling and reassembling appliances to diagnose appliance malfunctions
  • Other duties may include record keeping, bill preparation, preparing repair estimates, and inventory control

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

$22.46 - $29.12
