Job summary

NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is seeking an experienced Appian Software Developer for the Finance Information Technology (FIT) Division. You will design, build, and support enterprise web and mobile apps using Appian, focusing on high‑quality, accessible, and scalable solutions aligned with DOF goals.

You will work in a collaborative environment, advancing low‑code and integration strategies, ensuring reliability, and contributing to documentation and code reviews.

Qualifications

• Minimum: a baccalaureate degree and four years of full-time experience related to the position
• Hands-on experience with Appian features (Process Modeler, SAIL, Records, Reports)
• Strong front-end fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and familiarity with Java, Python, SQL, XML
• SDLC understanding: design, development, testing, deployment
• Understanding of REST/SOAP web services and integration

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy enterprise-grade web and mobile applications using Appian and low-code approaches
• Optimize development processes with Appian automation for ticket life cycle
• Ensure accessibility per WCAG standards
• Contribute to architectural design ensuring scalable, secure integrations
• Engineer reliability, investigate incidents, and maintain documentation
• Create automation to promote quality and prevent recurrence
• Perform code reviews and share best practices
• Test and debug frontend for cross-browser compatibility and performance
• Connect Appian apps with external enterprise systems via REST/SOAP APIs
