Location: New Jersey, Cincinnati, or Hartford, CT preferred. Candidates located in the Northeast or Southeast U.S. will also be considered. Client operates on Eastern Time (ET).

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Appian Business Analyst with 3+ years of experience in business analysis, including 1–2 years on Appian projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance operations and be capable of translating business needs into scalable Appian solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Process Analysis

• Collaborate with insurance business units (e.g., underwriting, claims, billing) to identify automation opportunities.
• Document current-state and future-state workflows, focusing on efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
• Translate business needs into functional specifications and Appian user stories.

Solution Design & Documentation

• Work with Appian developers to design scalable, reusable solutions tailored to insurance processes.
• Create wireframes, process models, and interface mockups to support solution development.
• Maintain detailed documentation including BRDs, FRDs, SOPs, and support QA/UAT efforts.

Project Execution & Testing

• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
• Support QA and UAT by validating that solutions meet business requirements and regulatory standards.
• Track project milestones, risks, and deliverables.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as a liaison between business users and technical teams, promoting adoption and continuous improvement.
• Provide training and support to end-users across insurance functions.
• Promote adoption of Appian solutions and gather feedback for continuous improvement.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of Appian platform features (e.g., process models, records, reports, interfaces).
• Experience working in or with insurance organizations (P&C, life, health, or specialty lines).
• Familiarity with insurance operations, terminology, and regulatory requirements.
• Understanding of integrations with core insurance systems (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek, Salesforce).
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like JIRA and Confluence.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Preferred Certifications:

• Appian Certified Analyst or Associate Developer
• Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
• AINS or CPCU designation is a plus
