Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office is seeking an Assistant District Attorney – Appeals Unit in Brockton, MA. The role reports to the Second Assistant District Attorney and Chief of Appeals, representing the Commonwealth in diverse trial and appellate courts.

The candidate must have a JD and MA bar status or eligibility, with strong advocacy, teamwork, and deadline management skills. Salary is $110,000 depending on experience, exempt status, and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Ability to lead or assist as counsel in trial court on evidentiary hearings at all stages.

Responsibilities

• Respond to daily inquiries from trial and appeals attorneys and Executive Staff.
• Review and advise on requests for affirmative appeals from trial court rulings.
• Assigned to appellate or trial court cases as needed and to research/write briefs and memoranda.
• Appear before trial courts, the Appeals Court and Superior Judicial Court to prosecute and present cases for the Commonwealth.
• Research and argue motions, memoranda and briefs pre- and post-conviction.
• Collaborate with peers to maximize productivity and outcomes.
• Perform general administrative duties and assist trainings and conferences.
