Job summary

Kohl’s is offering a Design Intern program focused on supporting product creation for private-label brands. You’ll gain hands-on experience across brands, exposure to multiple areas, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in a hybrid internship at the Kohl’s Corporate Office in Wisconsin.

The 10-week internship runs June 7 to August 13, 2027, with housing and transportation provided for interns and a mix of in-office and work-from-home days.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate junior pursuing design with a passion for customer apparel.
  • Ability to envision future product directions and translate trends.
  • Strong color sense and trend interpretation for customers.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and solution-oriented with good collaboration.
  • Basic fabric knowledge and garment construction understanding.
  • Able to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Clear, articulate communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in research and trends specific to category and brand.
  • Assist in PLM skills, including vendor communication, updating BOMs, submitting comments and style uploads.
  • Sketch designs focusing on stitch, detail and proportion accuracy.
  • Create presentations using Miro to articulate design concepts.
  • Present your work with research and application in color, mood boards, collages, and original designs through Illustrator and Photoshop CADs.
  • Support in building design tech packs to pass to Tech Design.
  • Collaborate with Merchant, Production and Trend teams to ideate and execute styles that support the brand’s vision and strategy.
  • Train in Browzwear Vstitcher.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned.

About the Role

As a Design Intern, you will support all aspects of product creation for Kohl’s private-label brands. You will gain a strong understanding of each brand’s aesthetic and customer while developing the foundational design skills necessary in the apparel industry. You will be placed within a specific category or brand but have the opportunity to gain exposure to multiple areas.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist in research and trends specific to category and brand
  • Assist in PLM skills, including vendor communication, updating BOMs, submitting comments and style uploads
  • Sketch designs focus on stitch, detail and proportion accuracy
  • Create presentations using Miro to articulate design concepts
  • Present your work with research and application in the form of color, mood boards, collages, and original designs through Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop CADs
  • Support in building design tech packs to pass to Tech Design
  • Collaborate with Merchant, Production and Trend teams to ideate and execute styles that support the brand’s vision and strategy
  • Train in 3D software (Browzwear Vstitcher)
  • Additional tasks may be assigned
About the Internship

Dates: The internship is 10 weeks, beginning on Monday, June 7th and ending on Friday, August 13th, 2027.

Location: This role is based out of our Corporate Office in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.

Housing: Housing and transportation options will be provided for interns based out of the Corporate Office.

Working Arrangements: As a Kohl’s intern, you’ll work in a hybrid-model, working in the office Monday-Thursday. Fridays are a flexible working arrangement date, where associates are able to work from home. However, for our interns, there are occasionally in person events on Fridays.

Required
  • Undergraduate Junior

  • Highly self-motivated, inquisitive, and solution-oriented
  • Basic understanding of fabric and garment construction
  • Proficient in managing deadlines and working efficiently
  • Clear and articulate communication skills
  • Strong collaboration skills
Preferred
  • Fashion Design Major
  • Background in apparel design
