Qualifications

• Must be able to meet the minimum physical demands of the position.
• Basic math skills for handling transactions and counts.
• Second language abilities (speaking, reading and/or writing) are a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products and services.
• Gain knowledge of department products to respond to questions and make suggestions.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Observe scheduled shift operating hours.
• Adhere to local, state and federal health and safety codes.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and maintain a clean, orderly department.
• Display creativity in merchandising and keep displays stocked.
• Be aware of product arrival dates and plan workload to meet deadlines.
• Handle paperwork according to company policy.
• Follow all merchandising, customer service, cash control, labor control, expense, safety and loss prevention rules.
• Promote sales through announcements and effective communication.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management; participate in safety procedures.
• Perform preventive maintenance and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Report accidents involving customers or employees promptly.
