Job summary

Title

APP Neurosurgery (PA-C or NP – Neurosurgery)

Position Overview

• Assist in the delivery of medical care to patients by reviewing and monitoring treatment and therapy plans in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Obtain medical and personal histories, perform physical exams, order appropriate laboratory, diagnostic and radiographic tests and interpret results.
• Educate patients and families regarding the plan of care.
• Work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team for the management of neurosurgical and neuroendovascular patients.
• Assist the surgeon in the operating room on spinal and cranial cases.
• Support all neurosurgeons and neuroendovascular surgeons on a rotating basis and provide inpatient rounding coverage on a weekend rotation.

Requirements

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience as an APP is preferred but not required; experience in neurosurgery, other surgery specialties, or neurology is preferred.
• Must be able to practice independently with strong clinical decision making, communicate clearly with patients and caregivers, and be able to navigate the EMR (Epic) efficiently.
• Be able to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
• Graduate of an accredited PA/NP program with an unrestricted license to practice as a PA/NP in the state of Michigan.
• Must be able to support surgeons as an operating room first assist.
