Position

APP (PA‑C / NP) – Neurosurgery, Bronson Methodist Hospital – Kalamazoo, Michigan (and Battle Creek, Michigan)

Division & Scope

Full‑time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner supporting the Neurosurgery division across the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek locations. Provides inpatient rounding, outpatient clinic care, surgical assisting, and outpatient coverage without required night call. Works on a weekend inpatient rotation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of medical care to patients, reviewing and monitoring treatment and therapy plans in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Obtain medical and personal histories, perform physical examinations, order appropriate laboratory, diagnostic and radiographic tests, and interpret results.
• Educate patients and families regarding the plan of care.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to manage neurosurgical and neuroendovascular patients.
• Assist surgeons in the operating room on spinal and cranial cases.
• Support all neurosurgeons and neuroendovascular surgeons on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA/NP program with an unrestricted license to practice as a PA/NP in the state of Michigan.
• Minimum 1–2 years of experience as an APP (preferred but not required).
• Experience in neurosurgery, other surgical specialties, or neurology preferred.
• Ability to practice independently with strong clinical decision‑making skills.
• Excellent communication skills and competence in the Epic EMR.
• Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Prepared to serve as first assistant in the operating room.
