Job description

Job Summary

Responsible for managing reporting APPs and APP supervisors, including activities related to patient care, service line development, quality improvement, strategic planning, and policy enforcement. Ensures APP clinical work adheres to scope and hospital policies. Assesses staffing effectiveness, mentors staff, and oversees administrative duties such as hiring, onboarding, evaluations, and compliance with review services.

The position is typically split 50% administrative and 50% clinical, based on expertise and organizational needs. It is a 40-hour role, may include off-shifts, weekends, and holidays, and provides leadership within specific specialties with potential for expansion.

Essential Functions
  • Collaborate on clinical growth and process improvement initiatives
  • Evaluate and adjust APP staffing based on clinical needs
  • Support recruitment, retention, and recognition efforts
  • Ensure financial and operational integrity through metrics review
  • Oversee CE/CME policies and expenses
  • Develop peer review and quality metrics
  • Manage change within service lines and oversee clinical training and education
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions
  • Coordinate scheduling and manage clinical responsibilities
Supervision and Qualifications

Supervision Received: Dual reporting to the APP Director and physician leader.

Supervision Exercised: Administrative oversight of APPs.

Physician Assistant Candidate Requirements
  • Licensed in Michigan, ARC-PA accredited program, NCCPA certified, DEA, BLS, 5+ years clinical, 2+ years leadership
Nurse Practitioner Candidate Requirements
  • Licensed in Michigan, accredited program, DEA, BLS, 5+ years clinical, 2+ years leadership
