Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant required.
• Licensure/board authorization to practice in MA required (APRNs).
• Active prescriptive authority and physician collaboration required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for high-acuity ICU patients.

Job Details:

• This position can accommodate both NP and PA candidates
• Provides direct patient care through comprehensive assessment, physical diagnosis, and therapeutic management of high-acuity critically ill patients in the ICU setting
• Works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team including faculty, fellows, residents, and nursing staff to develop, implement, and coordinate individualized plans of care
• Performs history and physical examinations, formulation of care plans, ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests
• Provides education to patients and their families
• Documents clinical encounters clearly, precisely, and in a timely manner
• Coordinates patient care to ensure safe, effective, efficient, and timely patient-centered care
• Liaises between visiting nurses, clinical staff, and consult services
• Consults with physicians or surgeons regarding the care of patients for more complex diagnoses
• Acts as an educator and serves as a clinical resource for staff through consultation, formal and informal education, review of literature, and participation in seminars and conferences
• Works within the Department of Anesthesia in Critical Care, providing coverage across both the Neuro ICU and Medical ICU
• Off-hour, weekend, and holiday coverage is required
• For NP candidates: Master's degree in Nursing required; MA Nursing License required; MA Board authorization to practice as an APRN NRSG required; Valid prescriptive authority from both the MA DPH-DCP and Federal DEA required; American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certificate and ACLS required
• For PA candidates: Master's degree in Physician Assistant required; MA Physician Assistant License required; ARC-PA and NCCPA certification required
• Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office applications
• All staff must be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment

Compensation:
