Job summary

Gulf Copper LLC seeks an experienced Project Manager to oversee ship repair and fabrication projects on the Gulf Coast. You will manage schedules, control costs, and coordinate with estimating, planning, and client teams to ensure contractual compliance and timely delivery.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to navigate complex contracts and technical drawings. Travel to project sites may be required; PPE is mandatory where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree preferred but not required.
  • 3–5 years ship repair/fabrication experience preferred; 4–6 years in other industries may be acceptable.
  • 2–4 years marine-industry project or production management experience preferred; PMI certification acceptable.
  • Ability to read blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals.
  • Must wear PPE in required conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps abreast of health and safety policies and ensures compliance for personnel.
  • Interfaces with estimating to develop detailed project execution plan.
  • Monitors project baseline and assists with changes from scope.
  • Tracks progress and reports to Project Manager.
  • Coordinates contract documents with Client drawings and specs.
  • Identifies special requirements and advises Senior Project Management.
  • Maintains project schedules in MS Project and resolves schedule issues.
  • Notifies management of risks and opportunities and mitigates them.
  • Supports contract administration and cost/schedule monitoring.
  • Provides input for project planning and status reporting.
  • Maintains project documentation and minutes of meetings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This positionis responsible forthe following: Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Keeps abreast of health and safety policies, procedures and strategies for the company and facility, ensuring compliance bypeopleassociated with Projects undertheirmanagement.

  2. Interfaces with estimating to support the development of a detailedplan for executing theproject.

  3. Understands the project baselinein order toassistwithcontrol changes from the agreed Scope of Work.

  4. Monitors work and work assignments for the project, and reports progress to Project Manager.

  5. Liaises between the Project Manager and Planning/Estimating tofinalizethe Contract Document, ensuring that any qualifications/clarifications along with the Client’s Approved for Construction (AFC) drawing and specifications are incorporated into the final Contract Document.

  6. Identifies toandadvisesSenior Project Management as to any special equipment, labor, schedule, financial, or insurance requirements that have been agreed to within the contract.

  7. AssistwithmaintainingtheProject schedules in MS Project by assessing task completion progress and inputting percentage complete.Resolves schedule maintenance issues with input from Scheduler.

  8. Notifies ProjectManager of any risk and opportunities associated with the Project andassiststo minimizerisks andmaximizeopportunities.

  9. Assistwith contract administration to ensure contract requirement compliance.

  10. Monitors cost and schedule utilizing EVMS and Accounting cost summary reports and reports to Project Manager for corrective action.

  11. Provides input to support project planning and work package document development. Daily or weekly reporting as to the project status.

  12. Manage and update any necessary project documentation (deliverables lists, action items list, punch lists, etc.).

  13. Attends all project meetingsinternalandexternaland takes meeting minutes. Prepares

  14. minutes and action items list andsends themto Project Manager for review,approval,and distribution.

  15. A bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline (preferablystructural, civil, and mechanical)is desired but notrequired.

  16. Three (3)to five(5)years Ship repair/fabrication experience preferred.Four (4) to Six (6) years of experiencein different industries may bedeemedacceptable.

  17. Two (2)tofour (4)yearsofmarineindustry-basedproject or production management experience preferred.

  18. As an alternative, three (3) years of experience in a marine industry environment and a Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent certification.

  19. Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, as well as in anoffice-controlledenvironment.

  20. Must wear hearing, eye, headprotectionand proper PPEwhenrequired.

  21. May have to visit projects aboard ships,rigsboth on and offshore as well as confined spaces.

  22. Visits may require standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over,crouching,and climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members.

  23. Office equipment, including telephone, fax machine, scanner, computer, printer, etc.

  24. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings,operatingand technical manuals, along with drawing and interpreting graphs.

  25. Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures.

  26. Strong Organizational skills and able to use time effectively.

  27. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to effectively speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations before groups of customers or employees.

  28. Strong teamplayer.

  29. Excellent planning, negotiating, and organizing skills.

  30. Ability to motivate co-workers,colleagues,and others.

  31. Ability tooperatein a systematic and logical manner.
