Job summary

Alstom in Pittsburgh is seeking a full-time APM Fleet Support Engineer - Structure/Mechanical to advance the reliability, safety, and performance of APM vehicles and wayside systems.

You will develop and validate engineering solutions, manage engineering change documentation, and support site teams with technical justifications and upgrades across regional and global initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience in APM, railway, or similar mechanical/civil engineering roles.
• Experience with track/railway systems, switches, or heavy construction projects.
• Understanding of wiring, power distribution, control systems, onboard electronics, and signaling interfaces.
• Ability to travel 50% or more, including short‑notice assignments.
• Identify opportunities for standard solutions and architectures to maximize reuse and minimize rework.
• Commitment to resolving obsolescence and safety issues across multiple fleets.
• Identify opportunities to maximize use of best cost engineering resources in delivering initiatives.

• Providing technical governance and leadership for regional and global engineering initiatives.
• Chairing or supporting user groups and global community calls to resolve issues.

Your future role

You'll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of APM (Automated People Mover) vehicles and selected wayside systems. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across the business (such as wayside and infrastructure engineers), provide technical support for troubleshooting and upgrades, and contribute to engineering solutions and safety compliance.

You'll specifically take care of developing and validating engineering solutions for APM systems, but also managing engineering change documentation and supporting site teams with technical justifications.
