Job summary

The Blood Connection, Incorporated is seeking an Apheresis Technician to screen and collect blood products from donors using automated systems. You will monitor donor well-being, ensure accurate documentation, and adhere to SOPs in a regulated environment.

You will schedule donors, provide exceptional customer service, and support daily operations, including maintenance and quality assurance, to meet inventory needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Apheresis or plasma collection experience preferred or 3+ years in a related clinical setting.
• Valid Driver’s License with no major infractions and dependable transportation.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to follow SOP in a heavily FDA regulated environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors, and co-workers.
• Ability to work with all levels and in a diverse work environment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and peers.

Responsibilities

• Screens prospective donors through medical history, mini physical, and testing results.
• Performs donor health history and physical assessment according to SOPs.
• Sets up and primes automated collection system for automated procedures.
• Performs venipuncture on eligible donors and strives for high yield.
• Keeps donor area stocked with required materials and equipment.
• Provides post-phlebotomy care and donor reaction documentation.
• Takes part in quality assurance and maintains accurate paperwork.
