Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH is seeking an experienced RN to provide donor and therapeutic apheresis care on a 0.9 FTE (36 hours/week) day shift. The role requires advanced clinical judgment, proficiency with apheresis equipment, and strong critical thinking.

Responsibilities include performing procedures, monitoring patients, maintaining equipment, coordinating care with the team, documenting thoroughly, and participating in quality assurance and training.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years nursing experience.
• Clinical nursing experience in critical care, oncology, hematology, or dialysis preferred.
• Experience with apheresis procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform apheresis procedures (e.g., therapeutic plasma exchange, red cell exchange, stem cell collection, leukocyte reduction, photopheresis).
• Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after procedures and respond to changes in condition.
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain apheresis machines while ensuring infection control and safety standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, lab personnel, blood bank, and care team to coordinate procedures.
• Document assessments, procedure details, and outcomes in the EMR accurately.
• Manage venous access and prevent infection throughout procedures.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, side effects, and post‑procedural care.
• Participate in QA, competency assessments, and continuing education.
• Maintain supplies, prepare equipment, and comply with regulatory guidelines.
• Assist in training new team members.
