Job summary

Birge & Held in Okemos, MI is seeking a Service Technician II to maintain and improve the community’s physical assets. You will handle HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and general repairs, report to the Operations Manager, and ensure timely completion of service requests.

The role requires hands-on maintenance experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while keeping safety in focus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated success in apartment maintenance, construction, or a related field.
• EPA certification required for refrigerant handling, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
• HVAC certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws (Fair Housing, ADA, FCRA).
• Inspect buildings and common areas for cleanliness, safety, and appeal; maintain assets.
• Perform maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural elements; repairs as needed.
• Complete work orders promptly; provide updates to Operations Manager; typical turns and timelines.
• Maintain grounds; support other assets and portfolios as needed.
• Submit forms and reports accurately; participate in related duties as assigned.
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
