Job summary

Capital One is seeking an Associate Accountant for its Commercial Controllers team in Richmond, VA. The role focuses on accounts payable operations and general ledger accounting for Commercial Broker Dealers, with opportunities to grow through project work.

You will collaborate across Finance and business partners, support automation efforts, and strive for process efficiencies while maintaining strong internal controls. A Series 99 license is required over time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience is required.
• 2+ years of accounting, banking, or securities experience is preferred.
• Hands-on experience managing end-to-end Accounts Payable workflows is preferred.
• CPA license or CPA candidate status is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between line of business and Enterprise Supplier Management to manage accounts payable including onboarding vendors, processing and routing invoices for payment, and tracking contracts and ongoing business expenses.
• Calculate and post accurate month-end expense accruals, prepare general ledger journal entries, and perform account reconciliations.
• Prepare expense variance analysis and assist with reporting for month end close.
• Interact directly with Finance, business partners, internal stakeholders, and associates throughout the Controller’s group.
• Support team automation and data transformation efforts.
• Identify and drive process efficiencies.
• Obtain and maintain a Series 99 Operations Professional license.
• Other duties as assigned
