Job summary

Capital One seeks an Associate Accounting, Commercial Controllers to support FINRA/SEC-registered Commercial Broker Dealers with accounts payable and general ledger activities. You will learn accounting processes and contribute to automation projects within a high-performing Controller’s group.

Responsibilities include processing invoices, month-end accruals, GL journal entries, and variance analysis. A CPA or CPA candidate is preferred, with 2+ years in accounting or banking.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, or military experience
• At least 1 year of experience in accounting, banking, or securities
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• 2+ years of experience in accounting, banking, or securities
• Hands-on experience managing end-to-end Accounts Payable workflows
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or CPA candidate

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between the line of business and Enterprise Supplier Management to manage accounts payable including onboarding vendors, processing and routing invoices for payment, and tracking contracts and ongoing business expenses
• Calculate and post accurate month-end expense accruals, prepare general ledger journal entries, and perform account reconciliations
• Prepare expense variance analysis and assist with reporting for month end close.
• Interact directly with Finance, business partners, internal stakeholders, and associates throughout the Controller’s group
• Support team automation and data transformation efforts
• Identify and drive process efficiencies
• Obtain and maintain a Series 99 Operations Professional license
• Other duties as assigned
