Job summary

Phoenix House in Commerce, CA is seeking an Alcohol and Drug (AOD) Counselor to coordinate patient care across residential/outpatient services. The role supports transition back to the community through integrated medical, substance abuse, and related services within individual treatment plans.

The position requires a relevant credential with DHCS, at least one year of related experience, and (for some roles) Spanish bilingual abilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; and be registered as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (AOD) with DHCS.
• Minimum one year of related field experience; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Maintain valid credential as required; TB test clearance renewed yearly.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate initial assessment, treatment plans, and service goals with related plans.
• Provide individual counseling services to patients.
• Facilitate evidence-based treatment groups for cohorts.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed by clients and families.
• Maintain documentation and ensure charted notes and reports are complete.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary treatment team and referral resources.

Education

DHCS-recognized AOD Counselor credential

TB test clearance annually
