Job summary

First Steps Recovery LLC in California is seeking an AODC Counselor to coordinate and provide individual counseling, group sessions, and intake assessments for residents across inpatient and outpatient levels of care.

You will develop resident resources, discharge planning, and collaborate with the treatment team. A minimum 1–2 years in addiction/mental health, AA/Bachelor in Human Services, and KIPU experience are preferred; driving license and certifications desired.

Qualifications

• Preferred AA or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or Behavioral Health.
• Registered as an AOD intern or RADT-1 Intern.
• Drug and Alcohol Counseling Certification desired (CCAPP/CAADE/CADTP or affiliate).
• 1–2 years of experience in addiction/mental health is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based practices.
• Coordinate intake assessments and plan resident progress through the continuum of care.
• Develop discharge and continuing care planning with treatment team input.
• Document progress notes and maintain clinical documentation in required time frames.
