Job summary

South Coast Community Services seeks an AOD Counselor to provide comprehensive counseling and recovery support within an interdisciplinary team in California. You will conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and document care in the agency’s EHR.

The role requires current AOD/SUD certification recognized by DHCS and a commitment to HIPAA and confidentiality. The position emphasizes client-centered care and coordination across behavioral health services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of applicable AOD/SUD counselor education and training requirements.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in behavioral health, psychology, social work, human services, addiction studies, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess client needs, participate in development and modification of individualized treatment and recovery plans.
• Provide individual and group counseling within scope and competency.
• Coordinate services with interdisciplinary team and external providers.
• Document assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, referrals, and discharge planning in the EHR.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and California requirements.

Education
