Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking Part-Time Aides to assist with student supervision before, during, and after the school day. Positions are limited to 3.75 hours per day, maximizing coverage during non-instructional periods at Southwest Side (Sandoval School).

Responsibilities include overseeing students in lunch/recess, study halls, and entry/exit, while complying with district policies. A high school diploma or GED is required, with preferred one year of supervision experience.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED (required).
• One year of experience supervising children in organized settings (preferred).
• Ability to work with and for school children and follow policies.

DUTIES OF PART-TIME AIDES

Some examples of duties that can be performed by Part-Time Aides include assisting with supervision of students:

• During lunch and/or recess period(s)
• During study halls (to only be held during non-instructional minutes)
• During in-school suspensions
• During student entry/exit
• In and around the school building

Part-Time Aides cannot take on the duties of other clearly defined school-based positions, including but not limited to teacher’s assistants, instructional assistants, special education classroom assistants, children’s welfare attendants, security guards or aides, clerks, etc.

Qualifications

Part-Time Aides must have the following qualifications:

• High school degree or GED equivalent (required)
• One year of experience in the supervision of children in an organized setting (preferred)
• Ability to work with and for school children
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to learn and follow school and district policies, procedures, and expectations.
