Duties:

High School Special Education Teacher (short-term substitute). Must possess a NYS Teacher Certification in Special Education (9 - 12). This is a co‑teaching position in a science classroom. It is preferred that the teacher is familiar with the New York State Standards in Science/Earth & Space Science at the high school level.

Minimum Qualifications:

• NYS Certified Teacher in Special Education.
• Experience teaching high school Special Education.
• Ability to provide differentiated instruction at all levels
• Ability to use authentic and traditional assessments to differentiate instruction and improve student achievement.
• Evidence of academic success at undergraduate and/or graduate levels.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to school's mission and vision.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with department staff, special area teachers and administrators.
• Evidence of positive classroom management skills.
• Experience teaching high school students.
• Strong computer skills and ability to integrate technology into instruction.

Willing to be a leader in effective teaching practices, methodology, and curriculum.

Qualifications Desired:

• Experience teaching high school Science/Earth Science.
• Familiarity with New York State Standards in Science/Earth Science at the high school level.
