Anticipated Long-Term Substitute in Technical Education
Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Technical Education Teacher to join our educational team in a long-term substitute position beginning approximately February 8, 2027, through the end of the 26-27 academic year. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical education, engineering, design, manufacturing, construction, or related technologies and a commitment to providing students with engaging, hands‑on learning experiences. The successful candidate will create a safe, positive, and innovative learning environment that encourages students to develop technical skills, problem‑solving abilities, creativity, and career‑ready competencies.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Technical Education curriculum aligned with New Jersey Student Learning Standards and student needs.
  • Provide engaging, hands‑on instruction in areas such as design, engineering, manufacturing, construction, woodworking, computer‑aided design (CAD), and other technical applications, as appropriate to course offerings.
  • Teach students to safely and effectively use tools, equipment, machinery, materials, and technology associated with technical education courses.
  • Incorporate project‑based learning, design challenges, problem‑solving, and real‑world applications into classroom instruction.
  • Establish, teach, and consistently enforce appropriate laboratory, shop, and equipment safety procedures.
  • Assess student learning and skill development and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, experiences, and learning styles.
  • Maintain classroom and shop equipment and assist with the organization and inventory of tools, materials, and supplies.
  • Integrate current technology, industry practices, and emerging trends into technical education instruction.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning opportunities and support school and district initiatives.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes collaboration, creativity, responsibility, and student engagement.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and program initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to remain current with instructional practices, technology safety standards, and developments in technical education.
  • Support extracurricular activities, competitions, clubs, or other student opportunities related to technical education, engineering, design, or technology, as appropriate.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the school community.
