JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE : F-100 - Maintenance Supervisor
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
- Possession of a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
- Minimum of five (5) years of skilled maintenance experience which must have included one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.
- Must possess and maintain a valid New Jersey driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Required criminal background check.
- Low pressure black seal boiler operator license.
REPORTS TO : Director of Facilities or designee.
SUPERVISES : Maintenance and department assigned staff.
JOB GOAL : The Maintenance Supervisor assists the Director of Facilities Management with providing leadership for the complete daily operation of all school facilities as they relate to providing students and staff with a physical environment that is healthy, safe and efficiently operated.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Supervise maintenance staff by determining workloads, priorities and schedules; develop and interpret policies and procedures; evaluate maintenance staff members; ensure staff is trained in all maintenance activities and are following standard operating procedures.
- Monitor and participate in maintenance operations including inspecting projects, developing and implementing modifications and improvements, recommending specifications for maintenance work; inspecting contractor's work to ensure that safe work practices, contractual requirements and standard operating procedures are followed.
- Maintain effective working relationships with maintenance tradesmen.
- Cooperate with other supervisors, administrators and district personnel to effectively meet department maintenance objectives.
- Ensure orders for materials, supplies, equipment and contracted services for maintenance work is appropriate for the scope of work or level of maintenance work required.
- Coordinates and schedules all maintenance work for the department and coordinates work with other departments and schools / offices to schedule work assignments and resolve problems.
- Respond to all maintenance emergencies as required; coordinates activities with other responders; directs the work of staff and utilization of resources to affect maintenance repair and ensure the safety of the community and school district.
- Perform a variety of field maintenance activities either alone or with other assigned maintenance personnel.
- Prepare maintenance records and reports related to work scheduled, work performed, materials and supplies required or purchased and contracted services for maintenance activities.
- Perform other maintenance duties as directed by the Assistant Director of Facilities Management.
- Enforce safety practices and procedures related to maintenance activities.
- Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local building and construction laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
- Interpret, apply, and implement complex codes, regulations, building documents, and drawings.
- Generate purchase requisitions.
- Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Director of Facilities Management, and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
ANNUAL EVALUATION :
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on the evaluation of non-certificated staff.

SALARY :
Range : $80,00 to $100,000 based on experience (non-bargaining unit - Single Unit Contract)
