DESCRIPTION

Grounds Worker, Shift “A”, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Maintain grounds including lawns, landscaping, shrubs, trees, and gardens.
• Sprays fertilizers and/or insecticides as necessary ot directed
• Maintains drainage culverts and ponds as necessary or directed.
• Installs or repairs fences, gates, and road barriers traffic and information signs
• Maintain bleachers and other athletic equipment as assigned.
• Drives and operates; vans, trucks, dump trucks, tractors with various attachments and heavy equipment.
• Paint fences. Out buildings, booths, parking lines, traffic lines, and curbing as assigned
• Installs athletic playground equipment.
• Reports to assigned location during inclement weather to ensure the safe opening of District buildings by the FTSSA agreement and to be available for emergencies, including inclement weather, outside of the normal workday.
• Work outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions.
• In cases of emergencies or personnel shortages, may be assigned to a Custodial position or to assist a Maintenance Mechanic.
• Be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position as defined under the qualifications section.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Groundsman shall be able to perform the essential functions of their position at 100% capacity without any permanent physical limitations that would limit his/ her ability.
• Essential Functions/ Continuous (66 - 100% of work time) Physical duties:
  • Lift/ Carry 1 - 10 pounds unassisted
  • Push/ Pull 1 - 10 pounds unassisted
• Frequent (45 - 66% of work time) Physical duties:
  • Lift/ Carry 11 - 50 pounds unassisted
  • Push/ Pull 11 - 50 pounds unassisted
  • Bend/ Stoop/ Twist
  • Crouch/ Squat
  • Reach above and below shoulders
  • Repetitive arm and wrist use
  • Walk ( even or uneven surfaces )
  • Stand ( for 4 or more hours at a time )
  • Sit ( for 30 minutes or more at a time )
  • Use of Motor Vehicles/ Lawn Maintenance Equipment
  • Work with/ near building maintenance equipment, power tools, cleaning chemicals, and fumes.
• Occasional (33% or less of work time) Physical duties:
  • Lift/ Carry 51 - 100 pounds unassisted
  • Push/ Pull 51 - 100 pounds unassisted
  • Kneel/ Crawl
  • Climb Ladder/ Stairs
  • Repetitive Grabbing/ Squeezing
  • Work with/ near heights, impact tools, and tight places
• Be a licensed driver and/or have transportation to and from work sites.
• Demonstrate advanced mechanical aptitude with equipment necessary to fulfill assigned tasks.
• Other qualifications as specified by the Franklin Township Board of Education.

COMPENSATION

In accordance with the provisions of the BOE/FTSSA Collective Bargaining Agreement, the base hourly rate for the Grounds Worker position for the 26-27 school year is $28.10 per hour for individuals hired on or after July 1, 1998. Compensation may vary based on relevant experience and education.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Hourly Position . Salary and benefits as determined by the Board of Education and any applicable and collective negotiations agreement.
