Abington Heights School District is seeking an anticipated 5th Grade Math and Science Long-Term Substitute at Abington Heights Middle School for 61 work days, from December 1, 2026 to March 8, 2027. The assignment covers middle school subjects with Pennsylvania certification requirements.

The position offers the annual starting salary of $63,992 (BS) prorated, with benefits including health insurance through Highmark, life insurance, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• PA State Certification as a Middle School Teacher Grades 4-8 (4-6, Mathematics 7-8)
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university applicable to the teaching assignment.
• Successful prior teaching experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teaches multiple subjects in middle school (Math, Science, Reading, Language Arts, Social Studies) and adapts curriculum for virtual or regular class settings.
• Develops lesson plans, provides individualized instruction, and translates plans into learning experiences.
• Communicates with parents about progress and utilizes various modes of communication (in person, online, phone, email).
• Maintains professional standards and classroom management to create a safe learning environment.
