Bristol Myers Squibb in San Diego is seeking a Principal Scientist to lead antibody engineering efforts on the Therapeutic Discovery Sciences Protein Engineering team. Qualifications
- PhD in protein science, structural biology, biochemistry, or related discipline
- Hands-on antibody engineering experience including bispecific/multispecific formats
- Experience with SPR/BLI, ELISA, flow cytometry, and other protein interaction assays
- Ability to design, plan, and execute experiments and troubleshoot independently
- Leadership and collaboration across matrix teams and partnerships
Responsibilities
- Serve as protein engineering representative on discovery project teams, owning strategy from concept to lead nomination
- Design, execute, and troubleshoot antibody engineering workflows (affinity maturation, humanization, format conversion)
- Engineer and evaluate IgG, Fab, scFv, bispecific formats
- Characterize antibodies using SEC, SPR/BLI, and related assays
- Partner with Biologics Discovery, Structural Biology, and Computational Biology to advance programs
- Analyze complex datasets to identify risks and mitigation strategies
- Lead discussions, present findings, engage with CROs and external partners
- Author protocols, study reports and regulatory documentation; maintain timely ELN records
