East Carolina University invites applications for a fixed-term Teaching Assistant Professor in Anthropology. The position is 9-month, renewable, non-tenure track, beginning January 2027, teaching four courses per semester in a mix of in-person and online formats to support the BA Anthropology program.

The candidate will teach Forensic Anthropology and Introductory Biological Anthropology, may assist in casework, and contribute to MA teaching and mentorship as needed.

Qualifications

• PhD in Anthropology or closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Experience in teaching undergraduate courses is preferred.
• Forensic anthropology teaching experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teach four courses per semester (4/4 load) in face-to-face and asynchronous online modalities, including Forensic Anthropology and Introductory Biological Anthropology.
• Assist in forensic anthropological casework and potentially mentor MA students.
