University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks a forensic anthropologist for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to start August 2027. The candidate will teach five courses annually, including core forensic science and anthropology offerings, and contribute to program development and coordination of the Forensic Science Minor.

Ideal applicants will maintain an active, externally funded lab-based research program and build on the department's interdisciplinary strengths.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Forensic Anthropology or Anthropology with extensive training in Forensic Science.
  • Ability to develop and maintain an active laboratory-based research program that can be funded externally.
  • ABD applicants will be considered; PhD must be confirmed by August 1, 2027; one reference must be the dissertation chair.
  • Experience teaching university-level courses is preferred.
  • Willingness to coordinate the Forensic Science Minor when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Teach five courses per academic year, including Fundamentals of Forensic Science and Forensic Science Methods.
  • Deliver courses in Human Osteology and Introduction to Forensic Anthropology.
  • Coordinate or assist with the Forensic Science Minor and related program activities.
  • Develop and maintain a laboratory-based research program with external funding.
