Descrição da oferta de emprego

The Department of Anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Miami invites applications for a tenure-track/tenure-eligible Assistant or Associate Professor position with specialization in Forensic Anthropology to begin August 15, 2027. We seek a colleague with a holistic, four-field approach to anthropological inquiry. We are particularly interested in candidates who regard forensic sciences as interdisciplinary and whose ethically informed research advances collaboration with international colleagues to address violence in its myriad forms, health and death disparities, and criminal justice. Geographical, theoretical, and research specialty areas are open and may include skeletal biology, evolutionary biology, DNA analysis, digital and AI technologies, functional morphology, mass disaster identification, international human rights investigation, and ethical skeletal remains processing and curation. The successful applicant will have an established record of original research, funding, teaching, and publication, with a clear framework for continued progress in these areas. The candidate should also have or develop partnerships with local communities and forensic, government, and law-enforcement agencies in the South Florida area. A Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related field must be in-hand by the position’s start date. Certification as a diplomate in the American Board of Forensic Anthropology (DABFA) is preferred.

Teaching duties include two courses per semester at the introductory, advanced undergraduate, and graduate levels. Applicants should be able to teach forensic anthropology, introductory-level biological anthropology, and human osteology, as well as contribute to our Master’s program in the Professional Practice of Anthropology. The candidate will develop additional classes, engage in undergraduate and graduate mentoring, and supervise undergraduate and graduate student research. The ideal candidate will commit to teaching a field school and contribute to the development of our undergraduate and graduate curricula. Other duties include departmental and university-level service on committees, working groups, etc., as directed by the Chair.

Review of applications will commence immediately and will continue until November 30, 2026, or until a suitable candidate is found. Applications shall be submitted via the UM Faculty Careers website at: https://umiami.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/UMFaculty. Please compile the following into a single PDF and upload via the link: a curriculum vitae, a letter of interest, a brief document describing your plans for future research, a document describing your teaching philosophy, and the names and contact information of at least three references.
