Working Title Adjunct Faculty

Location: District Wide

Pay Information The salary schedule can be reviewed by clicking here . At the time an offer of assignment is made, proper salary placement is contingent upon receipt of official transcripts. Instructors with advanced coursework will be placed on the appropriate class and step of the Adjunct College Salary Schedules, effective the first month after receipt of the official transcripts. Initial salary placement will be at the first class/step until official transcripts are submitted.

The Position

Part‑time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students. Positions are as‑needed and applicants should live within commuting distance to San Diego. Assignments may include a combination of day, evening, weekend, and/or off‑campus classes.

Major Responsibilities
  • Teach lecture and lab classes as assigned.
  • Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
  • Maintain professional conduct and ethics.
  • Keep current knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time faculty member.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Create a learning environment that encourages discussion of ideas, interests and issues.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology, or Bachelor’s degree in those fields AND a Master’s in Sociology, Biological Sciences, Forensic Sciences, Genetics, or Paleontology (all from regionally accredited institutions).
  • Or equivalent education or experience.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.

Desired Qualifications

  • Foreign degree holders with coursework evaluated by a NACES or ACEI‑accredited agency, and a copy of the evaluation submitted with the application.
  • California Community College Instructor Credential in Anthropology (valid for life).

Conditions of Employment

Candidate is required to complete the following prior to employment:

  • Submit official college transcripts.
  • Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam, renewed every 4 years.
  • Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the district’s expense (clearance before first day).
  • Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Employees may be transferred to any site at the Chancellor’s discretion.
