Job Description
The Bartender is responsible for preparing food and drink orders, serving beverages and meals to patrons as regulated by state and federal age requirements, and coordinating lounge/bar activities.
Qualifications
- Three to six months related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Alcohol Awareness Certification (must comply with State regulations).
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems promptly; develop alternative solutions and exercise reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
- Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations; respond quickly to customer needs and requests for service and assistance.
- Maintain professionalism; treat others with respect regardless of their status or position.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures.
- Adherence to safety and security procedures; report unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.
- Communicate ideas and information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to meet work schedule demands, be punctual, and work outside of regular hours if needed, based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Verify customer age by checking identification for alcohol purchase.
- Present menu, answer questions, and take food and beverage orders.
- Prepare drink orders including wine, liquor, and beer.
- Prepare appetizers and food items per recipes and standards.
- Monitor seating in lounge/bar area to ensure all guests are served.
- Compute bills, accept payments, and track sales receipts.
- Limit problems related to excessive drinking by discontinuing alcohol service when necessary and notifying management.
- Clean bars, work areas, tables, glasses, utensils, and equipment.
- Maintain a tidy kitchen and lounge station, restock supplies at shift end.
- Organize and control lounge/bar operations.
- Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
- Arrange bottles and glasses attractively.
- Inventory liquor, food, supplies, and equipment weekly; order supplies as needed.
- Maintain daily temperature and waste logs.
- Ensure quality and quantity of foodstuffs and supplies meet standards.
- Report tips properly for tax purposes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Access to back-of-house areas and sensitive information.
- Handle cash, prepare and deposit cash drops, and balance bank.
- Interact with guests and colleagues, occasionally unsupervised.
- Maintain trust and responsibility, represent the company professionally, and exercise sound judgment.
