The YMCA of Greater New York is here for all New Yorkers – to empower youth, improve health, and strengthen community. Founded in 1852, today the Y serves a diverse population of more than half a million New Yorkers who learn, grow, and thrive through programs and services at our 24 branches. Community is the cornerstone of the Y. Together, we connect active, engaged New Yorkers to build stronger communities.

To help fulfill our mission, we cultivate a culture of learning, leading, and collaboration to enhance community impact. Through our talented staff and “LEAP” career framework (Leadership, Empowerment, Accountability, Personal Growth), we are committed to a people-first approach that fosters trust, inclusion, growth, and development for all.

The YMCA of Greater New York Association Office is seeking an Annual Giving Specialist. The Annual Giving Specialist supports the execution and growth of the Y’s Annual Fund and related fundraising initiatives, with a special focus in the planning and coordination of the Y’s endurance and peer-to-peer fundraising efforts. Key Responsibilities
  • Support the production and coordination of citywide materials for annual appeals, targeted campaigns, giving days, and endurance events, working with external agencies, designers, writers, and mailing partners as needed.
  • Coordinate the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing engagement of endurance event participants, including day-to-day fundraising communications, activities, and support before, during, and after each event.
  • Collaborate with the Donor Ops team on participant registration, vendor logistics, data, and other operational needs related to endurance events.
  • Serve as a key liaison to Branch staff, maintaining and organizing Annual Fund tools, resources, and materials to support local fundraising efforts, and coordinating communication and participation in citywide initiatives.
  • Serve as the day-to-day Annual Fund liaison to Branch staff, providing guidance and resources to support local fundraising efforts, coordinating branch communications and participation in Association-wide initiatives, and responding to ongoing branch needs.
  • In partnership with the Donor Ops team, help coordinate annual giving outreach calendar including tracking deliverables, changes/updates, lists, and monitoring email performance and results.
  • Support the management, maintenance, and content updates of digital fundraising platforms and webpages.
  • Support the Fund Development department with special events and projects as needed.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in nonprofit development, annual or individual giving, donor engagement, volunteer management, or a related administrative role.
  • Experience supporting Annual Fund, monthly giving, campaigns, or peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent creative writing and verbal communication skills, with experience producing donor-facing content.
  • Knowledge of graphic design; previous experience with Microsoft Publisher, Adobe InDesign, or Canva a plus.
  • Experience working with content management systems, CRMs, and email marketing platforms, such as Salesforce/NPSP, Marketing Cloud, Classy, or comparable systems preferred.
  • Experience in using HTML, content management systems (e.g. WordPress), email systems (e.g. Marketing Cloud) and relationship management software a plus.
  • Desire to be part of a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, results-oriented team.
  • Strong customer service mindset and commitment to positive donor experiences.
