Job summary

Epic Games is seeking an experienced Animation Systems Programmer for the Special Projects team. You will develop, optimize, and maintain core animation systems to power real-time graphics across Unreal Engine projects.

Collaborate with animation, design, and engineering colleagues to push the boundaries of character motion, prioritizing visual quality and performance, with strong C++ skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Qualifications

• Proficient in C++ with real-time graphics experience.
• Strong math skills, including linear algebra, for animation pipelines.
• Experience with rigging, animation state machines, and low-level animation systems.
• Experience with multi-threaded programming and system tasks relevant to graphics/engine tooling.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and maintain core animation systems used across Epic's Special Projects.
• Collaborate with engineers, animators, designers, and partners across time zones.
• Write technical documentation and system designs for animation tooling.
• Explore new animation techniques and technologies to push real-time performance and quality.
