Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle seeks an Animal Technician II to perform routine animal care and maintenance of facilities and equipment. The role supports research staff and adheres to SOPs under supervision, with emphasis on skill development and essential operations.

Preferred candidates have six months of experience and ALAT certification; the hourly range and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to lift and move 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to wear PPE including scrubs, gloves, shoe covers, gowns, ear protection, face mask and eye protection.

Responsibilities

• Care for all small animal species (mice, rats) daily per SOPs.
• Maintain animal housing and equipment; change cages and operate washers/autoclaves.
• Perform sanitation duties in animal housing areas and surroundings.
• Communicate effectively with research staff.
• Maintain knowledge of regulatory/safety requirements in biomedical research.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
