Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation: $40,300 – $47,400 per year

What’s a typical day as Animal Care Technician II? You’ll be:
- Providing daily care for research animals, including feeding, watering, and changing cages and racks
- Sanitizing animal facilities and equipment to maintain high standards of cleanliness and biohazard control
- Monitoring and recording animal health, environmental conditions, and population records
- Assisting with laboratory procedures such as withdrawing blood, collecting samples, and administering medications
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations for animal care
- Assisting in training and supervision of other animal care staff as needed
- Providing pre- and post-operative care and treatment for animals as assigned
- Maintaining equipment and ensuring the facility remains organized and safe
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
- Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science or related field with at least 1 year of experience in a veterinary or animal lab setting, OR
- Have an Associate’s Degree in Animal Science or related field with at least 2 years of experience in a veterinary or lab setting, OR
- Have a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of experience in a veterinary or lab setting
- Possess ALAT Certification by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS), and are willing or able to obtain LAT Certification within one year of hire
- Hold a valid Georgia Driver’s License
- Are knowledgeable in federal, state, and local animal care regulations
- Have strong skills in observing animal health, administering medications, and basic lab procedures
- Are able to lift up to 50 lbs and work both independently and as part of a team
