Job summary

The Nebraska Humane Society in Omaha seeks an experienced Animal Support Manager to lead staffing, scheduling, and program administration for the animal support teams across dogs, cats, and other species.

Reporting to the Director of Animal Welfare, you will supervise the Animal Support Specialist Lead and staff, drive training, performance reviews, and ensure documentation, safety, and lifesaving goals are met.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in animal behavior, sheltering, or related field.
Minimum of three years of supervisory or management experience including scheduling, coaching, and performance management.
Experience coordinating animal support, enrichment, or related shelter programs and ensuring implementation of individualized plans.

Responsibilities

Lead staffing, scheduling, and performance management for the Animal Support team.
Oversee program management, training, and documentation in line with NHS policies.
Coordinate daily activities, provide coaching, and ensure resource availability.
Collaborate with other departments on shelter operations and placement decisions.
Represent NHS and maintain relationships with trainers, behavior consultants, and related resources.
