Job summary

Ivins City is seeking a part-time Animal Shelter Assistant to help run the animal shelter operations, care for impounded and owner-surrendered animals, and maintain a clean, disease-free facility.

The role supports the Animal Control/Shelter Manager and Public Safety Sergeant, with duties including record-keeping, animal transport to appointments, and enforcing applicable laws. This is a non-supervisory position without employee benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience/training related to essential functions preferred.
• Must have a valid Utah driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Respond to public inquiries by telephone and assist walk-ins.
• Act as animal control clerk to redeem, impound and adopt out animals, and maintain records using ASM software.
• Feed, water, and provide continuous care for impounded animals.
• Perform general hygiene for animal care and ensure welfare of animals in the facility.
• Observe animals for rabies and other diseases and coordinate handling and quarantine as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance and groundskeeping at the shelter facility and surrounding area.
• Transport animals to veterinary appointments for services including routine care, and euthanasia when required.
• Provide information to the public regarding animal control issues and related information; receive and process complaints.
• Enforce city and state laws; cite owners; court appearances may be required.
