Qualifications

• Knowledge of animal care, behavior and handling; laws/regulations pertaining to animal control and licensing.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Answers questions from the public regarding shelter policies and procedures; relays animal control information.
• Performs animal intake of unlicensed, stray, and uncontrolled animals.
• Maintains shelter cleanliness; feeds and cares for animals; cleans kennels and cages.
• Issues animal licenses and receipts for fines/fees.
• Processes animals for adoption; includes vaccination, diagnostics, administering medication, temperament evaluation, and adoption counseling.
• Assists in supervising community corrections work crew and shelter volunteers.
• Maintains records of shelter activities: complaints, licenses, adoptions, medical records, and officer caseloads.
• Euthanizes animals; maintains permits; handles pharmaceutical products per DEA regulations.
