What You'll Be Doing

The WakeCounty Animal Center is looking for an outgoing and enthusiastic team player to join their team as the new Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator. As the Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator, you'll be leading a team of passionate and dedicated volunteers to enrich the lives of the animals at the Center as well as working with the Community Initiatives Manager to manage the various events and outreach programs for people and pets in Wake County.

As one of themost dynamic positions at the Animal Center, you'll never encounter a day without constant stimulation. If you love working with people as much as you love working with animals, this may be the position for you!

Essential Functions:

• Coordinate the onboarding and activities of approximately 200-250 active volunteers at any given time. (This includes all activities related to recruitment, training, management and retention of volunteers)
• Develop and maintain training and educational videos used in the Volunteer Program.
• Manage media appearances with animals available for adoption.
• Coordinate and attend off-site events.
• Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholder groups.
• Maintain records and statistical reports.
• Correspond with volunteers via email, telephone and social media.
• Serve as backup for the Animal Services Community Initiatives Manager when needed.

**This positions success is driven by administrative and leadership responsibilities. Toperform this job successfully, the Animal Services Volunteer/OutreachCoordinator must be able to multitask, be able to keep up with competing projects and priorities, and be comfortable in a leadership role overseeing hundreds of unique personalities and goals.

About Our Team

The Wake County Animal Center is an open-admission animal shelter operated by Wake County Government and on average takes in between 11,000 to 12,000 animals each year. We receive all stray, abandoned and surrendered pets in Wake County. The Center works in partnership with fosters, volunteers and local rescues, to treat and rehome thousands of homeless animals every year.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

• High school diploma or GED
• Three years of experience in animal center operations

• Knowledge of social media to target community members for recruitment, communicate with established participants of the Volunteer Program, and promote animals for adoption.
• Ability to develop new initiatives for the Volunteer Program and champion those initiatives to completion.
