Job summary

Prince George's County Government seeks an experienced Facility Operations Manager within the Animal Services Division to oversee the care, health, and welfare of animals and the operation of the animal control facility in Upper Marlboro, MD.

In this essential role, you will assist the Associate Director with division administration, supervise staff, develop health programs, and implement policies to protect animals and the public.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in governmental activities involving animal control administration, animal care and placement policies and procedures, facility management, and animal health practices.

Responsibilities

• Provides regular review of animal care and welfare protocols, updating as necessary.
• Leads daily rounds of the entire facility inspecting animal care and welfare.
• Develops relationships with other veterinary providers within the area.
• Reviews medication within the facility for best practice, generic options and other possible life or cost saving changes.
• Tracks budget expenses for all areas under their supervision.
