Job summary

Kelly is seeking an Animal Research Technician in Wilmington, MA to support nonclinical studies in a regulated lab environment. The role involves handling animals, administering test articles, observing health signs, and ensuring accurate data records.

No research experience or degree is necessary beyond hands-on animal care experience; 1–2 years in a lab setting is preferred and ALAT certification is a plus. The schedule is M–Th early shifts with Friday half-day.

Kelly is hiring an Animal Research Technician for one of our clients in Wilmington, MA

• This role works with animals and they will need to be comfortable with handling mice, guinea pigs, etc.
• Position pays $24.00/hr.
• Schedule: Monday – Thursday (6:00 AM – 3:00 PM), Friday (6:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
• Interview Format: Onsite Interview

No research experience or degree necessary; must have experience handling animals in a work setting (pet store, animal hospital, farms/ranches, zoo/aquarium, Wildlife Rehabilitation Centers)

POSITION SUMMARY

Perform various laboratory procedures in compliance with cGMP regulations for nonclinical research studies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Animal Care & Dosing: Administer test articles/substances, observe physical health signs, record study data, and prepare/autoclave cages and animal tags.
• Study Preparation & Materials: Prepare data forms, assist with test agent formulation, maintain dosage equipment, and manage inventory for specialized supplies (e.g., blood collection tubes).
• Data Management & Quality: Record study parameters according to protocol, generate data summaries, and ensure raw data records are complete, accurate, and cGMP-compliant.
• Coordination & Operations: Collaborate with project managers and technical staff, provide hands-on technical support, assist in coordinating departmental activities, and maintain proficiency in all departmental SOPs.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Associate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) in Biological Sciences or a related discipline required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience: 1–2 years of related technical laboratory experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered).
• Certifications: ALAT certification preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Physical Requirements: Frequently required to remain stationary during lab tasks, operate equipment, and move around the facility. Must regularly lift up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
• Safety & PPE: Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing.
• Environment: Active research setting involving sharp objects, mechanical equipment, fumes, caustic/toxic chemicals, biological samples, and potential exposure to zoonotic hazards. Noise levels range from low to moderate.
