Job summary

Planet Pharma is seeking a detail-oriented laboratory technician to support nonclinical studies under CGMP guidelines. The role involves administering test articles to animals, observing signs, and recording data in compliance with protocols.

Responsibilities include preparing cages and data forms, maintaining inventory, coordinating with project managers, and ensuring raw data integrity. An Associate degree in Biological Sciences and 1–2 years of related experience are expected; ALAT preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer daily test articles and observe/record signs in species per protocol.
  • Prepare cages, tags, and autoclave cages; prepare data forms for routine procedures.
  • Record study parameters as required by protocol and ensure accuracy of raw data.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating departmental activities with project managers and staff.
  • Maintain inventory levels of supplies and ensure SOP proficiency.
  • Work in a busy lab environment with PPE and safety protocols.

Job description

BASIC SUMMARY:
Perform various laboratory procedures in compliance with CGMP regulations as they apply to the conduct of nonclinical research.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform daily test article/substance administration, observation and recording of physical signs of species for contracted laboratory studies.
Prepare cage tags and individual animal number tags; prepare and autoclave cages. Prepare data forms for routine study procedures. Assist with preparation of data forms for specialized study procedures.
Record study parameters as required by protocol.
Ensure adequate supply of dosage equipment during the course of study. Assist in ensuring adequate supply of additional study specified materials such as blood collection tubes.
Assist in preparation of test agents
Generate periodic summarization of data.
Ensure raw data records are accurate, complete, and in appropriate order, and meet protocol specifications and/or GCGMP requirements.
Assist in interaction with project managers and technical staff in planning and conduct of studies.
Assist in planning and coordinating the activities of the department through hands-on technical support, communication with animal production / lab personnel and occasional delegation to other animal production / lab personnel.
Share responsibility for maintaining appropriate inventory levels of departmental supplies. Responsible for proficiency in all departmental SOPs with general knowledge of the lab/production processes.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associate's degree (A.A. IAS.) or equivalent in Biological Sciences or related discipline.
Experience: One to two years related technical experience,
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Certification/Licensure: ALAT certification preferred. Other: Bachelor's degree preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regularly required to move about inside the laboratory, communicate and operate a computer
Must frequently be able to remain in a stationary position while performing laboratory tasks and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work in a busy research environment, which requires use of sharp objects, working around mechanical parts, working with or near known or unknown toxic or caustic chemicals and/or biological hazards, exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
Work with biological samples with risk of exposure to, zoonotic disease, and biohazards.
The noise level in the work environment ranges from low to moderate depending upon the task being performed.

Additional Requisition Requirements
This role works with animals and they will need to be comfortable with handling mice, guinea pigs, etc.
The max pay rate is 24/hr for this position
