Job summary

Wake County Animal Center in Raleigh, NC is seeking a proactive Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator to lead a large volunteer program and collaborate on community initiatives. You will oversee onboarding, training materials, and outreach events to benefit people and pets in Wake County.

The role requires a strong manager mindset, excellent communication, and a passion for animals. The position is full-time with flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three years of experience in animal center operations.
• Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record.
• Equivalent education and experience are accepted.
• Three years of animal sheltering experience.
• Two years of animal training experience.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, social media, and recording software.
• Experience with public speaking.
• Experience with Better Impact (Volunteer Management Software).
• Multilingual.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the onboarding and activities of approximately 200-250 active volunteers at any given time.
• Develop and maintain training and educational videos used in the Volunteer Program.
• Manage media appearances with animals available for adoption.
• Coordinate and attend off-site events.
• Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with stakeholder groups.
• Maintain records and statistical reports.
• Correspond with volunteers via email, telephone and social media.
• Serve as backup for the Animal Services Community Initiatives Manager when needed.
