Job summary

The SPCA of Wake County seeks an Animal Care Manager to lead the Animal Care Team, guiding daily workflows and staff development in Raleigh. You will drive high standards of animal care, welfare, and safety while fostering a collaborative, accountable work environment for staff and volunteers.

You will build data-driven strategies to improve animal flow, behavior support, and departmental performance, aligning priorities with the organization's mission of saving animal lives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of supervisory experience in animal welfare.
• Strong knowledge of companion animal behavior and humane handling.
• Proven leadership, communication, and time-management skills.
• Experience with databases or shelter management systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of animal care, welfare, sanitation, enrichment, and humane handling.
• Lead staff scheduling, coaching, and performance development.
• Monitor KPIs and improve departmental performance.
• Collaborate with other departments to support animal care and outcomes.
• Manage payroll and timekeeping for the Animal Care Team.
