Job summary

Humane Society Silicon Valley is seeking an Animal Flow Foster Associate to support both rescue and foster programs within the Logistics Department. You will help foster families, arrange veterinary care, and assist with weekly rescue transports to partner shelters, ensuring timely matching and placement of animals into foster homes.

You will coordinate with Medical and Behavior teams, manage records in Shelter Buddy and Vetter, and assist with outreach events to promote the Rescue and Foster

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating and supporting foster programs and volunteers.
• Ability to multi-task in a shelter environment with shifting priorities.
• Strong communication with volunteers, staff, and the public.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move animals as needed.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate animals for foster placement and match with suitable homes.
• Build relationships with foster parents and arrange veterinary appointments or behavior consultations.
• Collaborate with Medical/Behavior staff to ensure health and comfort of foster animals.
• Schedule foster transports, vaccines, spay/neuter, and related paperwork.
• Assist in scheduling rescue runs with partner shelters.
• Support animal transports and prepare paperwork and photos in Shelter Buddy.
• Participate as driver or passenger on transports (1–4 hours one way).
• Conduct dog introductions for matchmaking with residents and visiting dogs.
