Job summary

Boston is seeking a provisional Animal Control Officer to enforce local and state animal control laws under the direction of the Director of Animal Control. The role involves removing injured or diseased animals and ensuring public safety and animal welfare.

Responsibilities include quarantine inspections, serving notices, handling stray and unlicensed animals, and meticulous record-keeping. Strong knowledge of laws, effective communication, and a MA driver''s license are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Must communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• One year of animal control experience or certification preferred.
• Must have and maintain a Massachusetts driver''s license.

Responsibilities

• Remove injured, maimed, or diseased animals under the Director of Animal Control.
• Enforce Massachusetts General Laws and City of Boston ordinances related to Animal Control.
• Perform quarantine inspections and inspect homes for quarantine suitability; serve notices.
• Picks up stray and unlicensed dogs and other animals; maintains records as required by law.
• Make and prepare complaints against owners of unlicensed dogs.
• Perform related work as required.
