City of Alvin is seeking a Humane Officer to enforce animal control and cruelty laws, care for sheltered animals, capture nuisance animals, and educate the public on city ordinances. The officer will respond to calls and emergencies around the clock under the Shelter Manager's supervision.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, basic state animal control certification (may be earned after hire), and a valid driver's license.
A Humane Officer (also referred to as an Animal Control Officer) is under the general supervision of the Shelter Manager who operates the City's animal shelter and is responsible for the enforcement of animal control and cruelty laws and regulations. Employees in this class provide care to sheltered animals, capture nuisance animals, educate the general public on ordinances in relation to domestic pets, and respond to calls for services and emergencies twenty-four (24) hours a day. Performs related work as required.
Starting Salary: $17.13
