Job summary

LSU in New Orleans is seeking a Training Specialist for animal care to design and deliver training on animal care, safety, and departmental processes.

The role will also develop assessment and evaluation tools and create training plans to support staff development and performance. Must have a Bachelor's, ALAT Certification, and 3 years in a laboratory animal facility, with substitution options as described.

Qualifications

• ALAT Certification required.
• 3 years of experience in a laboratory animal facility.
• Substitution: 4 years in a laboratory animal facility with at least 2 years of training employees may substitute for the Bachelor's Degree; other teaching/educational experience may substitute year-by-year.
• An additional year of experience training employees may substitute for the ALAT certification.

Minimum Qualifications

• Certifications or Licenses Required: ALAT Certification
• Number of years required to perform the job: 3
• Type of experience required to perform the job: Experience in a laboratory animal facility.
• Substitution: Four years of experience in a laboratory animal facility, with at least 2 of the 4 years training employees, may substitute for the Bachelor's Degree. Other relevant teaching/educational experience may substitute for the required experience on a year by year basis. An additional year of experience training employees in laboratory animal facility may substitute for the ALAT certification
